Our verdict

WSB is one of South Africa's most established sportsbooks, with a huge market range (including esports and horse racing), competitive odds and strong sports promotions like acca boosts and 2UP. Withdrawals draw complaints and non-EFT payouts are capped, but it's a genuinely feature-rich pick.

Players rate the range, odds and improved support, but several raise serious concerns about account closures after wins and payout reliability — a mixed picture worth weighing.

WSB Review

WSB (World Sports Betting) is an established sportsbook with a solid reputation for a wide variety of betting markets, aggressive odds and exciting promotions. Established in 2002, it is owned by World Sports Betting (Pty) Ltd, and over the years it has built a loyal following and earned praise for its comprehensive sports coverage and easy-to-use design.

WSB operates under a valid licence from the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board, ensuring a safe and secure environment. The bookmaker mainly serves players in South Africa and supports English, and works for both novice and seasoned bettors.

Deposits and withdrawals

WSB offers a range of payment options for its South African customers: Visa and Mastercard, Instant EFT (electronic funds transfer with instant clearing) and traditional bank transfers — though bank transfers can take several days. Credit-card payments are credited immediately after authorisation, and for faster processing it’s best to transfer from a matching bank (e.g. FNB to FNB). Diners and Discover are also accepted, and there’s a Swift Code for overseas deposits (you cover any foreign transfer fees).

Category Method Minimum Maximum Processing time
Deposit Credit/Debit Cards (Visa, Mastercard, etc.) Varies No limit Instant
Deposit Bank Transfer (FNB, etc.) Varies No limit Faster within same bank
Deposit I-Pay/SID Varies No limit Instant
Withdrawal EFT (Bank Transfer) R50 No limit Varies
Withdrawal Other methods R50 R5,000 Varies

The minimum withdrawal is R50 across all methods, and all methods except EFT are capped at a R5,000 maximum. Withdrawal times vary by method and internal verification checks.

Bonuses and best offers

WSB rewards both new and loyal players — but always check the terms and wagering conditions before claiming.

Multi Sports Boost — up to 100%

Take a pre-match multiple of three legs or more on any sport and earn a boost that scales with the number of legs, up to 100% on a 50-leg multiple. Free bets don’t count towards the offer, and it’s pre-match only.

Legs Boost
3 3%
5 5%
10 12%
15 22%
20 32%
25 42%
30 52%
40 72%
50 100%

(The boost rises with every added leg between these tiers; T&Cs apply.)

2UP — cash out early

Back any team in selected competitions on the dedicated Match Result 1x2 2Up market, and if your team leads by two goals at any point in regular time (90 minutes), you’re paid out as a winner — even if they’re later pegged back. On multiples, that leg is marked won and the rest of the bet runs on. Disallowed goals and extra-time goals don’t count, and it doesn’t apply to bets fully cashed out or to the draw selection. It covers selected top competitions including the English Premier League, UEFA Champions League, Europa League, Bundesliga, Serie A, La Liga, Ligue 1, the South Africa Premier Soccer League, AFCON and the World Cup, among others.

Motorsport Money Back

Back any driver to win a MotoGP or Formula 1 race with a stake of R10 or more, and if your selection finishes 2nd, WSB refunds your stake in free bets. Minimum odds 1/1, single pre-match bets only. Claim by emailing [email protected] with the subject “Motorsport Money Back” within 24 hours of the race finishing, one refund per customer per event. Daily free-bet refund caps: R5,000 standard, R7,500 Black card, R10,000 Super Black card. Free bets must be used within 7 days.

Casino bonuses

WSB Casino also runs a no-deposit bonus and a deposit match: an R50 no-deposit bonus (30x wagering, no maximum cashout) and a 100% deposit match up to R20,000 (30x wagering, minimum R50 deposit). Note these are casino offers with high playthrough — read the terms before opting in.

Football

WSB sports betting

Football is one of WSB’s most popular markets, covering domestic leagues like the English Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A and Ligue 1, alongside major internationals including the FIFA World Cup, UEFA Champions League, Copa América and the Africa Cup of Nations. In-play options include match outcomes, goalscorers, handicaps and more.

Basketball

Basketball fans can wager on the NBA, EuroLeague, FIBA competitions and domestic leagues across Europe, Asia and Australia, with markets on point spreads, over/under totals, player props and live betting.

Tennis

WSB offers year-round tennis covering ATP and WTA tours, the Grand Slams (Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and US Open) and even Challenger Tour matches, with game handicaps, set scores, match winners and live in-play odds.

Cricket

WSB carries a wide range of cricket markets across Tests, ODIs and T20 leagues like the IPL, Big Bash and Pakistan Super League, including top batsman, best bowler, match winner and total runs.

Esports

As competitive gaming has grown, WSB has added esports betting on titles like Call of Duty, League of Legends, Dota 2, CS:GO and Valorant, with markets for match winners, map scores and handicaps across events such as The International, ESL Pro League and the LEC.

Betting features

WSB’s interface is beginner-friendly and well structured, making it easy to find events and markets across a broad set of sports — from football, cricket and rugby to darts and snooker. The mobile app (iOS and Android) mirrors the site for a smooth on-the-go experience.

Live in-play betting lets you bet as events unfold, and the cash-out tool lets you settle a wager before the event ends to lock in gains or limit losses. A “Quick Links” feature points you to the day’s top games and deals.

Responsible gambling and opening an account

WSB provides deposit limits, time-out periods and self-exclusion, plus links to external support groups for gambling-related problems. Opening an account is simple: enter basic personal details (name, email, phone), complete identity verification to prevent fraud and comply with the law, then deposit and start betting.

Does WSB stand out?

WSB offers a well-rounded sportsbook with reasonable odds and a wide variety of betting options, including live betting, cash-out and virtual sports, all wrapped in an easy-to-use design. Its standout trait is breadth — few local books match its market range, and it uniquely covers esports and horse racing alongside the mainstream. User reviews generally point to a dependable experience and improving support, though some rivals offer bigger promotions or more specialised markets.

What we think can be improved

Some customers report delays, especially with bank transfers, so faster withdrawals and more instant payout options would help — as would lifting or clarifying the R5,000 cap on non-EFT methods. The wagering requirements on casino promotions are steep for newcomers, and round-the-clock live chat would match what several rivals already offer.

Conclusion

With a wide range of sports markets, competitive odds and engaging promotions, WSB is a trustworthy and comprehensive bookmaker. The platform is easy to use, and features like live betting, virtual sports and cash-out round out the experience, backed by solid responsible-gambling tools. Faster withdrawals, more affordable bonus wagering and 24/7 live chat are the main areas to improve — but for punters after a reliable, feature-rich book with genuine market depth, WSB is a strong choice.
